While shopping at an open-air market, a woman encounters a storyteller sharing a narrative about adventure: a baby named "Mowgli" (Sabu) disappears from his bed and into the jungle; his parents search for him, but his father is killed by the tiger "Shere Khan," and in the ensuing chaos, the child becomes lost. He ends up in a cave where wolves raise him as one of their own, bringing him to adulthood within the wilderness. However, his natural inquisitiveness begins to pull him toward a nearby village. Upon entering, he’s taken in by a woman who cares for him, much to the annoyance of local hunter "Buldeo" (Joseph Calleia), who waits patiently for an opportunity to confront this young man. “Mowgli” wants revenge against the tiger and acquires a knife, venturing into the jungle to face it directly; he also uncovers a significant treasure within an old temple, setting up his ultimate confrontation with his avaricious enemy. This is the original film using live actors, and the presence of actual animals contributes to a remarkably believable feel; the colors are bright, and the story of compassion, love, greed, betrayal, and impulsiveness unfolds in a straightforward but captivating way. Sabu’s acting skills weren't always top-notch, but here he is genuine and likable, and the outdoor locations provide an ideal setting for this wonderful tale.
