The initial portion of Joy Ride (2001) is quite captivating, establishing a sense of suspense and excitement, though the film’s momentum diminishes as it continues. Paul Walker provides a noteworthy performance as Lewis, lending stability to the movie, whereas Steve Zahn's depiction of Fuller sometimes seems exaggerated. The film maintains a good level of tension and anticipation for a significant portion of its runtime, which holds the audience’s attention; however, the resolution fails to meet the expectations created earlier on. It felt hurried at the close and didn’t have the impact necessary to resonate with viewers. Despite being enjoyable, the movie doesn't quite reach what it could have been, largely due to a conclusion that needed more development.
