I’ve been putting off seeing John Wick, and I wanted to catch up before the new movie Ballerina comes out (which I really enjoyed, by the way). Keanu Reeves is someone I always enjoy watching, and I know this series has a huge fan base. However, I feel like I might be in the minority here: I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I do recognize that there’s a continuing plotline throughout the movies, which I find appealing—the sense of everything being linked together creates an interesting world. But beyond that, it’s hard for me to understand why people are so enthusiastic. It seems very focused on action sequences, and while that's acceptable, I tend to prefer films with more dramatic elements or a deeper exploration of themes. Perhaps that explains my lack of connection. I also find the sound design and music somewhat strange, and there’s not much dialogue. The constant action means I miss out on getting to know the characters better and seeing them experience real emotions. It's just not resonating with me. I was hoping to like it more than I do, but it’s not really doing it for me.
