I took this one in over the weekend, and it managed to be both really funny and deeply emotional. John Candy was a big part of my growing up because he was in so many movies I still enjoy watching, so I definitely wanted to see this film when I had the chance. From the very beginning, you’re greeted by Bill Murray, who asks the director if he should say ‘nice things’ about John, which strongly suggests that he knows some embarrassing stories. Then we get a series of interviews with many well-known comedic performers sharing their thoughts on the late John Candy and offering glimpses into his personality. By the time the credits rolled, I was crying after seeing all the affection expressed to remember him following his unexpected death. This film will make you appreciate this great Canadian performer even more!
