Nicolas Cage delivers what might be considered among the most captivating performances of his career as Joe Ransom, the protagonist who is both cherished and burdened by significant struggles. This film stands out as exceptionally crafted, intensely emotional, profoundly insightful, and deeply affecting—truly a remarkable cinematic achievement. Although David Gordon Green’s independent production didn't achieve widespread success initially due to negative reactions from many viewers, I am confident that Joe will eventually be recognized as a motion picture masterpiece and one of the most significant accomplishments in filmmaking history. It is simply a matter of time before it receives its proper recognition. The film, adapted from a powerfully written screenplay, unfolds as a drama supported by an excellent ensemble cast, with performances that are nothing less than extraordinary. It’s a work of exceptional artistry. As I typically write my reviews in chronological order, I made an unusual decision to review this film immediately because it was too compelling to wait. Joe is a truly special movie featuring a memorable score and a lovely Folk soundtrack. It's a rare and valuable gem. Five stars, deservedly so.
