Those who enjoy the initial "Jaws" film from 1975, or even its follow-up in 1978, should probably skip this entirely; it bears no resemblance to those movies. Surprisingly, a character named “Mike” Brody (played by Dennis Quaid) still has an interest in the ocean, despite his past harrowing encounters! He's employed at a brand new marine park when a young great white shark enters through a damaged enclosure while searching for food. Where’s its mother? She can’t be far behind! The juvenile shark is caught but dies quickly, and it seems like the larger one is aware of this, becoming quite agitated as a result. Apart from some respectable underwater visuals and skilled performers executing aquatic stunts, it's a regrettable mark on the series' legacy. The introductory titles hint at the 3-D effects, and I remember attending a showing in Glasgow with those cardboard glasses years ago, wondering what everyone was so excited about. Now it’s clear – it was simply an ill-conceived, badly acted trick that is as awful as it is easily forgotten.
