This sequel didn’t live up to expectations. Roy Scheider did a good job, and I found the action later on to be engaging, but most of it felt dull. 'Jaws 2' spends too much time with the young characters, yet their plotline isn't captivating at all. The shark effects also seem inferior compared to the first movie. It’s close to being acceptable, and maybe a shorter length would have made a difference, but I just didn’t find it very interesting—around 115 minutes felt like too long. It’s possible that director John D. Hancock's vision might have been stronger, considering he was let go during filming; the production problems on this film – and even the first one, actually – are quite compelling to consider.
