My experience with stop-motion animation tends to be the same: the fantastic figures designed in the style of Harryhausen consistently surpass the performances of the live actors! This film doesn't change that pattern. Todd Armstrong, playing Jason, and Nancy Novak as Medea deliver stiff portrayals, just like the Argo itself seems constructed from wood. Nevertheless, it remains an engaging action-adventure story, filled with sequences showing Jason confronting adversaries and deceit while pursuing the famed Golden Fleece from Colchis. The film benefits from a reasonably good, primarily British cast; Honor Blackman is memorable as his benefactor "Hera," and Nigel Green provides a delightfully exaggerated portrayal of "Hercules." However, the real highlights are Talos, the Harpies, and an especially impressive skeleton fight sequence.
