This movie feels similar to the US version of 'Gabrielle'. It centers on a young woman with Asperger syndrome navigating dating while receiving varying degrees of support from her family. It’s a really good film, standing out as one of the better movies exploring this kind of subject matter. While it isn't the first to tackle such themes, and they can often feel repetitive—like different scenarios showcasing syndromes I wasn’t even aware existed—it remains an unusual romance-drama that, according to the director, highlights how 'everyone is worthy of love'. Jane, recently turned 25, still lives with her parents and is overprotected by her sister. A devoted fan of classic romantic movies, she decides to take charge of her life. Her desire for a boyfriend seems like a positive development for her family, especially her parents who are trying to move on. However, her sister presents a significant challenge, particularly when Jane finds someone interested in her. This leads to conflict and shows how her efforts eventually pay off. > ❝I've been so focused on the person you were that I wasn't seeing the person you've become.❞ It’s an independent film, funded through crowdfunding, featuring a wonderful screenplay and direction. Everything felt carefully considered; there were no gaps or wasted moments. I appreciated the film's pacing and length. But what really stood out was the casting—that was its strongest point. The actress playing Jane delivered an amazing performance. It’s like they say, 'every dog has its day', and this was her moment to shine, radiating brightly. Eliza Dushku as her sister also did a great job, along with the rest of the cast. You might already have a general idea of what the story is about, but how it unfolds in its own unique way contributed significantly to its success. It's not just about Asperger syndrome; it’s about families struggling to accept their situation and move forward. It wasn’t exactly the kind of romance film you expect, as romance was a minor focus, serving mainly as a starting point for the rest of the story, which then develops from there. It’s one of the best films this year and a must-see independent production. While it's primarily aimed at families, it’s suitable for all ages. I can’t really imagine how it could have been improved. The only way it might have been different is if other filmmakers or studios had tried their hand at it, bringing their own styles to the project. Otherwise, the core theme remains consistent. Despite featuring lesser-known actors and crew members, this isn't just any film; it’s a well-made and commendable effort—a truly underappreciated gem that deserves recognition.
