The extended "Director’s Cut," roughly twelve minutes longer than what played in theaters, feels like discarded pieces from Joe Eszterhas’s original script for Basic Instinct. While there are parts that work reasonably well, I believe it had the potential to be significantly stronger; a more engaging central performer might have elevated the entire experience. David Caruso's performance underscored why he was better cast for television roles. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t describe it as unwatchable. **3.0/5**
