It reminded me of Clive James’s “Endurance” series from when I was a kid – something that felt amusing back then during the eighties. Now, nearly five decades on, this kind of openly silly humor doesn't really connect with me as a group of energetic men in their fifties attempt to revive an idea that’s long past its prime. It seems they believed it would elicit laughter, and perhaps even considered using a genuine horse instead of the carefully constructed clumsy routines and profanity they employ to manufacture scenarios that simply didn't get any laughs from me. This feels less like a fresh movie and more like a collection of adventures featuring Johnny Knoxville – who appears to believe that loud laughter at their own actions will make them amusing – and his companions, all of whom have experienced better times, and are convinced that playing “Twister” while wearing protective gear after consuming a large quantity of laxatives is funny. I’m sorry, but being launched from a rocket was a spectacle a hundred years ago, and much of what follows feels just as uninspired. What's evident throughout is that this group has genuinely enjoyed themselves over the years and likely earned a good sum of money in the process, but does it remain enjoyable in 2026? Unfortunately, it mostly elicited discomfort from me, and the closing credits were the most pleasant part of the experience. It’s just not for me.
