My children and I viewed this film last night, and we all found it quite pleasing. It's a genuinely fun motion picture for families. As one might anticipate, the story offers a fresh take on the familiar tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. The essential components are present: Jack, beans, beanstalks, and giants, naturally. Some new details have been incorporated, such as a Crown used to manage the giants, an untrustworthy character who is accountable for everything that happens, and other additions. The depiction of the giants is exceptionally well-executed. The computer-generated imagery is generally good, though it occasionally falters. It's really the giants that carry this movie. I’d describe them as being a little frightening (for children) but also quite humorous. Sadly, the same can’t be said for the performances of the human cast members. The acting is often subpar and sometimes frankly terrible. It’s rather remarkable to see such a sizable production suffer from such low-quality acting, comparable to what one might expect on television. Ultimately, it remains a very enjoyable family film. As an adult viewer, I suppose you need to appreciate special effects and CGI—which I do—to get the most out of it.
