This second installment provides a good time, though it doesn’t quite reach the level of quality found in the first film. *Jack Reacher: Never Go Back* introduces a new set of characters, aside from one familiar face, and that does impact how much I enjoyed it—I generally dislike significant cast changes. However, the actors who join the series all deliver acceptable performances. The storyline isn’t as captivating as the one in *Jack Reacher*, but it still delivers adequate action sequences. As expected, Tom Cruise (as Jack) is easily the strongest element of this continuation. He's done a lot of similar projects, so his performance doesn’t feel remarkably different from what he usually does, but the movie shines when he's featured. Cruise shares the screen with Cobie Smulders (Turner), who is enjoyable to watch, and Danika Yarosh (Samantha), whose portrayal is agreeable. Also appearing are Aldis Hodge (Espin) and Robert Knepper (James), though their roles feel somewhat limited. Ultimately, while it may not live up to the 2012 film, there’s still plenty of entertainment value here.
