The narrative jumps around within a lengthy book sequence; mirroring the first movie, which drew from the ninth installment, this film adapts the eighteenth. It was presented in a visually appealing manner. The performers were capable, and their action sequences were impressive. However, the plot itself felt unoriginal. It’s a well-worn scenario: an individual is falsely accused, leading them to uncover the truth while being pursued by others. There are numerous near misses that provide exciting entertainment. Aside from the story, though, everything seemed satisfactory. Jack travels to meet a former coworker at his previous workplace, only to find she's imprisoned and he too is implicated in a crime they didn’t commit. The film follows their escape from prison as they search for evidence to reveal who set them up and why, all punctuated by impressive action sequences involving chases and escapes. It’s comparable to many enjoyable action movies, but it feels like familiar territory repackaged. This won't appeal to everyone, particularly those seeking something fresh. Tom Cruise, now 55 years old, is nearing the point where he might be considered a veteran performer, yet he still embodies that classic action hero persona. He likely has another three or four films left in him, including the next 'Mission: Impossible' film. Eventually, this series will probably transition to a younger cast as there are still around twenty books remaining. I’ve been considering whether a television adaptation would be better. Cobie Smulders also delivered a strong performance. The movie stays true to its source material but doesn't quite reach above-average status; it’s worth seeing at least once. _6.5/10_
