'J. Edgar' isn’t exactly thrilling. Leonardo DiCaprio delivers a strong performance as the man himself, and everyone else involved is quite good too, but I didn't care for how the narrative unfolded. Nothing particularly stood out to me, and I honestly wasn’t drawn into what was happening. It’s okay enough to keep watching, though it feels longer than it needs to be. The film does boast a noteworthy ensemble cast, including Armie Hammer, Naomi Watts, and Judi Dench, in addition to DiCaprio. I believe they all gave it their full effort; any problems I have with this 2011 movie don’t reflect on their work. It's the second disappointing offering from Mr. Eastwood to begin the decade, that's my take anyway.
