It’s more of an _Fucked-Up Coming-of-Age_ story than a typical _Monster-Movie-Slasher-Horror_, which is probably how it should be, even if that isn't what the advertising suggests. Stephen King's _It_ is among my favorite books ever, and I’m not sure a truly accurate version will ever exist (which makes sense considering its length—1200 pages—and the sprawling mythology involving Space Gods and Turtle vomit), but this one does a decent job of capturing the essence of the book, even if it isn't a perfect adaptation of the story itself. The young actors are all excellent, Skarsgård is effective as Pennywise, and the character becomes more compelling as the film progresses. The town feels completely authentic as '80s-era Derry. It might not live up to every expectation, but it’s still a very impressive movie when considered on its own terms. _Final rating:★★★½ - I really liked it. I would definitely suggest checking it out._
