The promotional material created a false impression of what this film actually is, leaving me feeling let down. Presented as a horror film featuring creatures, *It Comes at Night* fails to deliver on that promise because there's very little creature-based horror present. The story instead centers around a family attempting to survive after an apocalyptic virus has nearly eliminated humankind. A pervasive sense of anxiety and mistrust permeates the entire movie, with characters consistently worried about potential attacks or contamination affecting their loved ones. Strangely, some of the most unsettling scenes arise from the son’s recurring nightmares. The concluding plot developments seemed intended to be startling, but they ultimately fell flat for me. Although certain film enthusiasts may appreciate *It Comes at Night*, I found it difficult to overlook the misleading advertising campaign. I was hoping for monsters and instead received a focus on familial relationships and psychological tension.
