The focus on family takes precedence even when the world has ended! It turned out to be different from what I anticipated, and I did find it enjoyable. The promotional materials suggested something else entirely; I initially believed it would be a horror film, but it wasn't really a terror or thriller. There were moments of tension, although for the majority of the movie, not much actually occurred. It moved at a deliberate pace, though never felt dull. The plot is straightforward, featuring a small cast and an apocalyptic setting. You’ve likely encountered many films like this before, so don't expect any groundbreaking originality when you watch it. This leaves the question: is it worthwhile? I appreciated its uncomplicated approach. It reminded me of 'The Survivalist,' depicting a small family living in seclusion and extremely wary of potential dangers from outside. A mysterious illness has spread throughout the world, causing widespread death, and they recently buried one of their own, so they’re not willing to risk anything. However, following a frightening experience, another family arrives and what happens next makes up the rest of the story, including a small surprise. Joel Edgerton doesn't often appear in films with this kind of low budget and narrative style. He performed well, as did his fellow actors. It wasn’t intended to be a horror film; there were a few scenes designed to create suspense, but it wasn’t genuinely frightening. Even after watching the entire movie, I’m still unsure about what appears at night—dreams? nightmares? It seems that's what it suggests. Beyond that, it’s primarily a drama with touches of excitement and is probably only worth seeing once. 6/10
