It’s a Disney sci-fi fantasy story. I’ve been seeing quite a few movies geared toward preteens this summer with my niece. Because we watched the first two seasons of 'Girl Meets World' together, I know she enjoys Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter. That’s how we stumbled upon this Disney television film, which is based on a book of the same name. I was hoping it would be as enjoyable as that TV series, and my niece certainly liked it, but I found it to be pretty ordinary. Disney usually signifies magical stories, but this one combined science fiction with magic. It's about a teenage girl named Cleo, who’s an intelligent student but doesn’t really stand out at school. Meanwhile, her older sister Molly is very popular until she disappears when Cleo's science project malfunctions. The story then centers around that particular day, which is significant for Molly and will influence her future. The sisters work together to deal with the situation and find a way to reverse the invisibility. This film is geared toward children, particularly girls. But if you grew up in the eighties or nineties, you’ve probably seen better movies of this type. It felt too brief, which was actually preferable to a ninety-minute slog. Regardless, the movie wasn't terrible; your opinion will depend on how you approach it. It was simply an entertaining film for kids during vacation, but I had my own reasons for watching it. That doesn’t mean adults won’t enjoy it either. I was taken aback by the graphics used in it, especially considering it’s a television movie; they were surprisingly good and appeared to be limited to specific scenes. The production value alone makes it worth checking out. Things weren't so simple back then compared to how easy everything is now. 6/10
