This musical stands out as an immediate favorite among many I’ve seen. Those with an appreciation for fairy tales really shouldn’t miss this film. It cleverly combines familiar stories like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood. Keep in mind that these are adaptations of the original Grimm stories, and the story continues beyond the expected “Happily Ever After.” While it functions as a comedic satire, it also possesses considerable charm and heart, prompting some deeper consideration. The songs, conversations, and characters all rank highly among my preferences. It’s a recording of the Broadway show featuring the initial performers, and I can't easily picture anyone else taking on those parts.
