After Figgis and Bean establish the characters, the story becomes a mental contest between Peck and Raymond Avila (Garcia), where Peck consistently maintains an advantage because he understands Avila's vulnerabilities. Figgis builds suspense deliberately, then shifts gears into thriller territory based on Bean’s script. The atmosphere is one of impending disaster, effectively showing Peck’s wickedness against a backdrop of criminals, prostitutes, and assassins. It earns a rating of 8/10.
