This movie is awful, and I concur. I surprised myself by liking the 1999 version of *’Inspector Gadget.’* This one, however, didn’t impress me. I wasn’t really anticipating a significant improvement, but I had heard it was supposedly closer to the original TV series, so I hoped it would at least be comparable – that clearly isn't the case. Everything about *’Inspector Gadget 2'* is noticeably worse. The actors aren’t as memorable, there are no even slightly funny moments, and the film just feels low-budget overall. It also has a longer runtime, largely because it tries to shoehorn in a substantial plot with character development – that kind of earnestness doesn't work for something that needs to be completely absurd. None of the original actors came back, except for D. L. Hughley (who voices Gadgetmobile), but he hardly appears in this sequel. Elaine Hendrix (*’The Parent Trap’*) is a recognizable face, and her character, G2, might be the most engaging part of the film. It has a 1.5 average rating on Letterboxd, which it absolutely deserves – unlike the first movie's score.
