This is a charming narrative. *Inside Out* delivers 95 minutes of enjoyable and touching viewing. I appreciate the way the characters function and how their environment is created; the concept itself is quite effective, but visually, it doesn't completely grab me—there’s just something unremarkable about its appearance. While Joy and her companions are distinctive, I don’t find the voice acting to be particularly remarkable. Phyllis Smith stands out as the best of the cast; she embodies the character Sadness wonderfully. Amy Poehler (as Joy) and Lewis Black (as Anger) also do a perfectly acceptable job. It carries a worthwhile message, but for my taste, it lacks that certain something. I did enjoy it, though.
