_Ingrid Goes West_ offers a funny, unsettling look at how we connect with social media and seek approval from others. Aubrey Plaza is superb, as she typically is, and her comedic sense is particularly sharp in this film; I laughed out loud several times at her lines. Her scenes with Elizabeth Olsen also work very well. The unexpected bond between the two women felt believable, which helped to amplify the more poignant parts of the story. I found the narrative quite strong overall. There are many elements that viewers will likely connect with, and it all feels natural. It's unusual to find a film where the metaphors aren’t obvious; they come across organically. This is one of those movies where you don’t necessarily want the protagonist to succeed because she’s so self-centered and seems to deserve what happens to her, but at the same time, you feel some sympathy for her. The movie depicts a decline in her mental state, and even though she appears awful on the surface, it's clear that her actions stem from a desire for belonging. It can be uncomfortable and difficult to watch at times, especially as things reach their peak. **Score:** _84%_ | **Verdict:** _Great_
