It’s surprising, but Lon Chaney Jr. almost succeeds in making it worthwhile, even with its absurd plot. He portrays a man seeking retribution against those who wronged him after stealing an armored car, and he is condemned to death. After his execution, the body is handed over to "Prof. Bradshaw" (Robert Shayne), who uses considerable electricity to revive him, but also destroys his voice and renders him nearly invulnerable. The newly created being then sets out on a revenge quest, pursued by the strangely named police officer "Dick Chasen" (Max Showalter) through the city’s sewers. The experience would likely have been more enjoyable if not for the low-budget special effects and the uninteresting performances from Marian Carr and Peggy Maley. Even Shayne's portrayal of the professor doesn’t offer much – perhaps just amyl nitrate – to a shaky narrative. Ultimately, the film hinges on Chaney’s performance; those who appreciate him might find it acceptable, but others should probably seek out something else for amusement.
