I believe Walt Disney once mentioned wanting to release his movies roughly every seven years so that new viewers could experience them. This film has waited longer than that for a sequel that’s perfectly acceptable, but it definitely feels overlong! Dad, “Bob,” changes places with his wife, "Helen," also known as "Elastigirl," and discovers that she's the one who runs into trouble with the latest government rules against superheroes. Luckily, the wealthy Deavor siblings have a clever scheme to undo these public relations setbacks and bring back trust in our costumed heroes. The rest of the story unfolds in a rather predictable way. Dad enjoys looking after "Jack-Jack," who’s developing some amusing new abilities, while Mom has to face off against “Screenslaver,” a villain with impressive mind-control powers that he plans to use for world domination, naturally. As a comedy based on role reversal, Dad certainly gets the more enjoyable and humorous parts. However, as an action film, it feels familiar and lacks sufficient thrills to justify its nearly two-hour length. The animation and musical score are good, though, and even if it’s not quite as strong as the original, it's still simple enough to enjoy.
