Whelan portrays a woman whose odd behavior Gershon fails to recognize. Her character also happens to be a lesbian capable of violence. Whelan delivers a performance as a seductive and controlling figure, which raises questions about Gershon’s mental state and clarity. Sequences from the past illustrate the depth of her instability. Dunaway's appearance suggests she has had some unfortunate cosmetic procedures, and Cage is given very little to do other than play the part of an unintelligent husband. There are a few nude scenes included in the film. This marks Whelan’s third collaboration with Cage.
