I recall not having viewed this film for quite some time, but seeing it again really hit me with how bleak it is. Ignoring the action set pieces and booming soundtrack alongside the intricate storyline, there's a poignant narrative about a father attempting to reconnect with his kids, and surprisingly avoids being overly sentimental. If you examine what’s truly central to this film, it revolves around two men—Leo and Murphy—both struggling with past losses until they find the resolve to face truth and move on. The 'Grow Old Together' moment particularly resonated with me. You can criticize Christopher Nolan all you like, but his films always possess substance. I’m also certain that he would be an ideal director for a James Bond film; the elements are already in place. I kept thinking throughout the entire movie, "Just picture the creative mind behind *Inception* at the helm of a Bond project." It feels like a perfect fit.
