The Tall Grass, based on the 2012 Stephen King and Joe Hill story, creates a feeling of unease and tension with an uncomplicated but layered storyline that unfolds entirely within a strange field of grass. The movie is strong in its creation of mood, performances from the cast, and visual style, though it has problems with things making sense and raises numerous uncertainties regarding the characters and the main puzzle at hand. Even with these issues in how the story is told, the film does succeed in examining ideas about repeating time periods and decisions, keeping viewers engaged and psychologically invested until the end.
