“In the Lost Lands” is an unexceptional movie, featuring the familiar and expected DEI messaging. It resembles a simplified “Resident Evil,” blending science fiction with medieval fantasy and touches of a spaghetti Western style. Comparisons to “Into the Badlands” might occur, but this film doesn’t reach that level of refinement or captivation. At its core, it's a straightforward story told through exposition, using standard DEI elements and abundant CGI green screen effects that aren’t particularly impressive. The performances from the actors do help to elevate the movie somewhat, though it ultimately can’t overcome its own limitations and averageness. If you enjoy combining science fiction and fantasy genres, you will likely consider this a passable, if forgettable, experience.
