This 1943 western proved to be quite engaging; *War of the Wildcats* kept me interested throughout its runtime, and I appreciated how the plot centered around oil exploration. The film benefits from strong performances by John Wayne as Daniel, Martha Scott portraying Catherine, and Albert Dekker in the role of Jim. The action is also presented effectively. Certain aspects of the narrative are clearly products of their time, particularly the portrayal of Catherine, which felt underdeveloped beyond her initial scenes. However, it’s notable that the film presents a generally positive depiction of Native Americans, a rarer occurrence in older movies. Ultimately, I found watching this to be an enjoyable experience lasting 102 minutes. The story moves along at a good pace and features solid acting.
