You know what? A bunch of loud, boisterous young adults choose to spend a weekend at an isolated cabin and unintentionally anger a corpse that’s been hidden away for ages. This dead guy then starts causing trouble for them and the unfortunate park ranger (Reece Presley). It feels like I've seen this all before because there isn't anything new about it, and after roughly fifteen minutes, you’ll probably come to believe these characters genuinely deserve whatever “Johnny” throws at them. The people who are getting killed off are a predictable assortment of couples—some together, some former partners, others hoping to be—and there's the expected pair of women (though their time is short). There are also far too many drawn-out scenes showing the scary creature walking through the trees repeatedly. The visual effects pop up occasionally and are pretty amusing as he uses a chain, spikes, a hook, and an axe; but the real question is whether he can be stopped before writer/director Chris Nash begins considering a follow-up film. I guess the lesson here is—don't take what isn't yours; and maybe if this were shown in schools nationwide, it could effectively demonstrate the dangers of breaking one of the commandments. Thankfully, there’s not much talking happening, so we end up with a typical forest slasher that would be good background noise on TV after a few drinks.
