Pyper Braun is the reason to see *Imaginary*, as the film itself doesn’t quite succeed. I never felt invested in what was happening, and I didn’t connect with any of the characters—even Alice, portrayed by a talented young actress, wasn't particularly engaging. DeWanda Wise seemed lackluster, and Tom Payne’s performance was underwhelming; it’s true his part is small, but he just didn’t seem believable, especially considering how well he acted in shows like *The Walking Dead*. The villains felt wasted, and the bear featured on the poster was incredibly tedious. It would have benefited from a personality similar to Chucky's, instead of the vacant expression we see periodically. The conclusion also felt extended; I often hoped it would wrap up sooner, but it just kept going—nothing terribly irritating, though. At least the music wasn’t bad. It was actually quite funny how long it took me to figure out the bear’s name. I'd never heard of "Chauncey" before, so for a while I honestly thought his name might be “John C” or “Shaun C.” It wasn't until I saw it written down that I understood! 😂 Ultimately, Braun deserves recognition, but in my view, everyone involved could have done more.
