I’m Still Here certainly deserves recognition; it's a thoughtfully constructed movie about a difficult period in Brazilian history. What I appreciated most was the affectionate way they depict the Paivas family—it really comes across as if you’re observing an authentic group of people, and the actors contribute significantly to that impression. Fernanda Torres is particularly remarkable, which isn't surprising considering she carries much of the film. It’s a truly excellent performance! Selton Mello also makes a strong impact, as do the other younger members of the cast, like Luiza Kosovski and Valentina Herszage. Everyone on screen seems to deliver solid work. I do feel that a shorter length—perhaps something less than 138 minutes—would have been beneficial; there were instances where I thought it was about to end, but it didn't. However, this isn’t a significant issue because the film is of good quality and is absolutely worth seeing.
