Nearly everyone has perished due to reasons that remain unclear, except for one man who spends his time in the library. It’s hard not to wonder if this plot point feels familiar. The filmmakers obviously prioritized casting within their financial constraints. The movie is low-budget, features a limited cast, and is quite small in scope, but it's remarkably well-executed considering those limitations—and there’s real substance to be found here. It does require patience, as the pacing is deliberate. However, for the majority of its runtime, it tells a compelling story; that is, until the conclusion, where they felt compelled to manufacture a climactic moment and strayed from the sense of isolated despair that worked so well with the apocalypse. That’s likely when many viewers tuned out, but again, some kind of resolution was needed or else the narrative would have simply trailed off indefinitely; it just seems like they chose an unfortunate path that undermined the film's initial tone. Despite this, it remains a watchable and atmospheric movie.
