This sequel, "I Spit on Your Grave 2," attempts to capture the original’s visceral impact, though it doesn’t quite succeed. The initial portion of the story feels hurried and unbelievable; there isn't enough development of the characters to make the plot feel substantial or create any emotional connection with the audience. While the movie focuses a lot on graphic content, without a solid storyline, interesting people to follow, or real suspense, it comes across as empty and over-the-top. The change in location to another country seemed like it could have been promising, but the film doesn’t really take advantage of the setting's appeal or distinctive qualities. Jemma Dallender gives a reasonably convincing portrayal and appears well on screen; however, even her efforts aren’t enough to redeem a movie that misses the credibility and depth that resonated so strongly in the first one.
