The 2004 film "I, Robot" provides an enjoyable action-oriented science fiction experience. The visual aspects were particularly impressive for its era, showcasing a striking portrayal of a future Chicago alongside creatively designed robots. Director Alex Proyas establishes a distinctive atmosphere—dark and somewhat detached—which aligns well with the central theme concerning potential robotic rebellion. While Will Smith is engaging to watch, his character’s aversion to robots feels exaggerated. The narrative occasionally falters, revealing some inconsistencies, and it seems the filmmakers missed an opportunity to delve deeper into Asimov's foundational principles. Nevertheless, the action set pieces are diverting, and the film maintains a brisk tempo throughout. Personally, I found that the sound effects and musical score enhanced the overall impact, particularly during scenes involving intense robot combat.
