_I’ll Be Seeing You_, written by Joey Elkins and Blake Silver, is a genuinely appealing story that should find favor with many different kinds of viewers. The film presents the possibility of romance between the two younger characters, as well as a potential romantic connection for one of the older ones. It also features a heartwarming friendship between Vivien and Sue, along with a lighthearted dynamic between them and Mark. A pressing issue propels the narrative forward, but like many Hallmark movies, the central character seems to spend more time wandering around than dealing with that urgent matter. The passage of time feels almost arbitrary here, although this isn't as distracting as it has been in some other films (calculating a trip from near Seattle to Eureka would take roughly eleven hours without stops; factoring in at least one overnight stay and two hours lost due to the misplaced briefcase diminishes the feeling that there’s real urgency). Ultimately, the appointment itself isn’t really what matters—it's the experiences of Amy, Mark, Vivien, and, to a lesser degree, Sue during their travels, and what they each need to learn. Director Jessica Harmon manages to keep the story moving at a decent pace without establishing any clear sense of time passing. The scenery – apparently filmed in British Columbia to stand in for Washington state, Oregon, and California – is beautiful and contributes significantly to creating the impression that these four are traveling down the West Coast. It all combines to create a pleasant, charming, and easygoing story about self-discovery, and it even de-emphasizes the romantic element to the point where it’s unclear whether Mark and Amy will end up together, but they will definitely remain friends regardless.
