The film tells a story about "Jonas," weaving together scenes from his childhood and his present-day life as a man in his thirties. Félix Maritaud portrays the older Jonas with a believable, understated quality—though he seems like he could benefit from eating something! Nicolas Bauwens takes on the role of the younger Jonas, who generally appears to be fitting in. However, I’m having difficulty with how the story connects those two versions of the character; the progression feels shaky. There's an event that is revealed later, but it leaves me feeling like something is missing. It could be Christophe Charrier’s intention to suggest there are no straightforward resolutions, but I can’t quite understand how Jonas ended up on this destructive course and with his life so completely derailed. Like many French films centered around gay characters, the movie uses nighttime settings—streetlights—which adds to its atmosphere.
