I saw Hypnotic (2021) last night, and I’m not sure what to say. Kate Siegel is present—she looks nice and tries her best with the acting, though it doesn't quite reach greatness. The fundamental idea behind the movie, however, was really disappointing. Considering how much work the writers seemed to put in, I'm honestly shocked they didn’t make any more significant errors than just the title (though maybe autocorrect saved them there). There were so many inaccurate depictions of hypnosis and its processes that it was difficult to overlook, especially if the film itself had been enjoyable. I can accept these kinds of liberties when they appear in films like *Oldboy*, which I absolutely adore. But this felt formulaic and entirely predictable. Usually, even with a truly awful movie, you can find some enjoyment in how hilariously bad it is; unfortunately, this one was simply terrible, really terrible.
