It’s possible that some of the very positive reactions are coming from a fondness for the original animated film from 2010, but I didn’t connect with it in quite the same way, even though I did find those films enjoyable. This live-action adaptation, similar to other Disney projects recently, felt somewhat unnecessary despite the generally decent computer animation. It's easy enough to sit through, but I was a little bored because I had already experienced much of what’s presented in the 2010 animated movie. The acting was quite good though; I thought Nico Parker did well as Astrid. Honestly, I can’t think of a compelling reason to see this version when you could just watch the animated one again... **3.0/5**
