The initial installment was enjoyable, and its sequel isn’t significantly worse. What makes this series notable is its intricate storyline, which explores numerous themes beyond those commonly found in animated films. It's true that these subjects have appeared in earlier movies—such as the two central characters with disabilities (like in *Finding Nemo*), a more substantial presence of female characters (though still secondary and often requiring assistance from male figures), environmentalism, and so on. My biggest issues are with the portrayal of the nation of origin as a virtuous "peacekeeper" compelled to resort to force to maintain stability—a rather hypocritical message that seems aimed at a U.S. audience. The recurring narrative of the (awkward) hero being uniquely responsible for saving the world also feels predictable and wears thin. Furthermore, I find it disappointing how casually certain heavy subjects are handled: parental abandonment, death, etcetera. Regardless, it's an entertaining film with a funny story and is worth seeing, especially considering that this franchise deserves more recognition than it currently receives.
