This movie feels like a dreamscape—a fantasy presented with visuals reminiscent of Japanese animation. The director was given instructions to create something similar to *Jaws*, but he chose a different path, incorporating strange details that even disturb his own child. These elements—antique clocks, piano practice, and unfamiliar older family members—are woven into an odd narrative. While it’s entertaining, the film doesn't truly frighten; maybe this is because of the pervasive sense of silliness throughout. It also manages to incorporate a lot of familiar Western cultural references in a surprisingly seamless way.
