This amusing haunted house movie from the 80’s features William Katt and George Wendt. Following his aunt’s unexpected death, a horror writer and Vietnam veteran (Katt) finds himself relocating to her estate, where he begins encountering unsettling events. What's behind it all? Wendt portrays his neighbor, Kay Lenz is cast as his former spouse, and Richard Moll appears as a comrade from his time in Vietnam. "House" (1985) manages to refresh the well-worn haunted house concept by incorporating originality and humor alongside the typical scares. It’s an enjoyable horror/comedy where all the components work together effectively, drawing inspiration from films like “Poltergeist” (1982), "Basket Case" (1982), and “Ghostbusters” (1984). The Vietnam-related segments feel somewhat out of place within this type of story, but they eventually make sense by the film’s conclusion. Mary Stavin, as Tanya, delivers a few memorable performances. The movie has a runtime of 1 hour, 33 minutes and was filmed in Monrovia, California (for exterior shots), located just northeast of Los Angeles, and at Doheny Mansion on Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles (for interior scenes).
