I had a feeling this series would decline eventually, and that moment has arrived. That being said, it’s not completely awful. *Hotel Transylvania: Transformania* feels like what I anticipated the earlier installments to be, particularly the last couple. In my review of *Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation*, I noted that the stories were the only part I was finding enjoyable (the cast and characters are pretty bland, and that’s still true here), so it seemed inevitable that one would falter. I thought this film was rather dull, if not downright bad. Concentrating mainly on Dracula and Johnny proved to be a misstep, especially with Adam Sandler absent as the former. I honestly didn't think I’d miss Sandler, considering what I’ve already said about these movies, but it demonstrates that you don't appreciate something until it's gone; Brian Hull isn’t a good substitute—and this has nothing to do with him personally! The South American setting also eliminates any sense of *Hotel Transylvania* charm, which was another poor choice in my view. The story here isn’t engaging enough to compensate for the changes in location, cast, and characters, as it did in the first three films—at least, that's how I see it. It remains inoffensive and all of that, but it just doesn't have any energy.
