I honestly wasn’t planning on writing anything about this. There are animated movies that appear and then disappear without anyone noticing, so I figured it would be like that. Actually, I didn't care for the initial film very much, which is why I waited so long to watch it and had such low expectations. It's better late than never, but now I wish I’d seen it sooner. Possibly one of the best animated movies of 2015, maybe even in the top ten or fifteen. The basic plot revolves around a single idea: a mother wants her daughter to move and integrate into human society, believing it will benefit her son's future. Her father intends to prevent this separation from him and their hotel. The movie is essentially about those attempts. I really enjoyed it because it was very humorous; the dialogue and accents were particularly funny, and Adam Sandler did a great job. I’ve said it countless times—I don’t understand why American critics dislike Adam Sandler so much. I'm not sure how other people feel worldwide, but I generally like his movies. His more recent films, such as 'The Cobbler', 'Pixel', 'Men, Women & Children,' and this one, were all quite good. It didn’t bring back the old style of Sandler, but it presented a different and fresh version on screen. He was certainly the main reason for this film's success. Don’t judge something by its appearance; in this case, the previous movie is what you shouldn’t go by. The first one wasn’t essential viewing, in my opinion, but this one is especially worthwhile for fans of animation. It’s a PG-rated movie, but it could still be mildly frightening for children under eight, mostly due to the subject matter. I had a really good time watching it and hope you do too. I'm not sure if a third installment will be as successful as this one; we’ll just have to wait and see. 8/10
