The film follows “Daniel” (Timothée Chalamet), an introverted teen who enjoys observing the wealthy summer residents of Cape Cod. His life takes on a bit more excitement when he's brought into a scheme by "Hunter" (Alex Roe) to sell marijuana. The operation proves surprisingly profitable, and they quickly expand it, earning a considerable amount of money. This draws them into contact with local dealer “Dex” (Emory Cohen), and suddenly a young “Daniel” finds himself owning a flashy red sports car. He also desires a girlfriend, but his ideal girl, "MyKayla" (Maika Monroe), turns out to be the sister of his business partner, making a relationship seem impossible—at least in theory. With hormones surging and money flowing freely, things appear poised for improvement. However, the allure of success proves as compelling as the product they're selling, leading “Daniel” into something far more dangerous that threatens everything he’s gained. There isn't much about this coming-of-age narrative that sticks with you; were it not for Timmie being part of an otherwise unremarkable cast, I wouldn’t think anyone would bother to make space for it. What begins as a playful arrangement—selling weed to affluent boys while enjoying some casual romance—progresses into something increasingly unbelievable, violent, and poorly written. The story unfolds against the backdrop of an approaching category 4 storm, but that moment arrives too late to inject any energy into this dull and unremarkable tale of familial and community bonds, which is instantly forgettable.
