This movie really taps into a certain fantasy. It’s reminiscent of someone with unsettling fixations imagining a sick child. The idea of a detective constantly succeeding with romantic pursuits feels surprisingly plausible. There are numerous instances of characters meeting sudden, humorous ends. Charlie Day delivers his lines in a distinctive way. I honestly can't recall much about what actually happens in the story. It manages to pack all of that into ninety minutes.
