It's been described as an odd family film, and that assessment feels accurate. Certain scenes involving death felt potentially too intense for very young viewers, while other parts of the narrative and the action appeared overly basic for older children. The performances largely consisted of shouting rather than genuine acting, and there was a noticeable lack of depth in the characters. The repeated lines and actions from those three witches grew tiresome quickly. We chose to watch this as a lead-in to the 2022 sequel, but after experiencing this original, we don’t feel any particular desire to view it.
