It’s enjoyable enough. *Hocus Pocus* tells a lightly amusing story centered around witches set during the time of the Salem trials, though its connection to those actual events isn't really significant. It functions primarily as an entertaining fantasy film, and it certainly looks nice visually. Bette Midler as Winifred, Kathy Najimy as Mary, and Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah portray three witch sisters, and they’re largely why the movie is watchable; all are fun to watch, but Midler stands out most of all. The younger actors—Omri Katz playing Max, Thora Birch as Dani, and Vinessa Shaw in the role of Allison—are adequate, nothing remarkable, but serviceable. The story itself didn't really grab me or resonate with me, however, it fits well alongside everything else happening on screen so it’s acceptable overall. Ultimately, for my taste, this is a decent, average-level film from Disney.
